Megan K. Shaeffer

Assistant Lecturer

I am primarily interested in early medieval archaeology--the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings are my area of concentration.  I am also concerned with early medieval economic development, particularly the use of coins in different contexts.  I also have experience in cultural resource management, having interned for two field seasons with the Office of Environmental Services at the Ohio Department of Transportation. Since joining the department in 2002 I have had many opportunities to further this archaeological experience in areas of northeast Ohio. Outside of archaeology I have worked in many capacities at The Akron Art Museum since 1999, from receptionist to teacher.

I teach Medieval Archaeology, Human Diversity, and Intro to Archaeology.
