SECOND ANNUAL KATY KUNSMAN MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL
WATER POLO TOURNAMENT, OCTOBER 18-19, 2003

Presented by The University of Akron Water Polo Club

KATHRYN "KATY" KUNSMAN, passed away on September 21, 2002 at the age of 22, from complications related to Cystic Fibrosis. Katy was a University of Akron student, the daughter of Charles "Chuck" Kunsman, University of Akron Ocasek Natatorium Aquatics Director, UA Faculty Member and long time supporter of the UA Water Polo Club and a friend to many UA students. As a remembrance, the Kunsman family suggested contributions to the Katy Kunsman Memorial Fund at Church of the Epiphany, 21000 Lake Shore Blvd., Euclid, Ohio.

It is through Chuck Kunsman's guidance and tremendous ongoing assistance that the UA Water Polo Club is able to exist, let alone experience any success. Our club was very pleased to make a significant initial donation to the Katy Kunsman Memorial Fund this past October. In hopes of making an even more meaningful ongoing contribution we hosted the inaugural Katy Kunsman Memorial Invitational Tournament on April 5-6, 2003 in place of our annual spring invitational tournament. To better correspond with the time of Katy's passing we are pleased to shift the tournament to this October, and plan to continue to host it in the fall annually thereafter in Katy's honor. All net tournament proceeds go directly to the Katy Kunsman Memorial Fund at the Church of The Epiphany, of which half of those funds go towards Cystic Fibrosis Research. Our club is aggressively seeking outside sponsorships and contributions for the tournament and this very worthy cause. We most sincerely thank you in advance for supporting this worthy endeavor with your team's tournament entry!! Basic tournament facts follow below:
