Seventh Annual Rubber Match Classic

Invitational Water Polo Tournament

The University of Akron Water Polo Club is both a self and University of Akron funded club.  All of our active players pay regular dues to support the club’s annual budget, and in order to cover our operating expenses.  Our coaches are volunteers and our equipment costs are minimized as much as possible, though certain travel expenses (primarily gas), tournament entry fees and pool rental charges are very real costs that are unavoidable.  Consequently, in addition to our dues we actively solicit sponsorships and community contributions twice each year in association with the invitational tournaments we host.  In the fall we host the Katy Kunsman Memorial Invitational Tournament, and we actively solicit contributions to benefit both the Katy Kunsman Memorial Fund and Cystic Fibrosis research in addition to our club.  Sponsorships of our spring invitational, the annual Rubber Match Classic, are used strictly to fund the tournament itself and our club’s ongoing activities.  By graciously agreeing to sponsor or contribute to our tournament you and/or your organization help to sustain and grow competitive water polo – the oldest Olympic team sport - in Akron and Northeast Ohio.  Without your generous support and the support of others like you, our club would be unable to exist.  We hope you’ll also consider stopping by on Saturday or Sunday to watch a game or 2!

Please make your check payable to the University of Akron.  Please check with your tax advisor as your kind contribution may well be tax deductible.  The tournament itself will be a six to perhaps eight team (comprised of collegiate and/or regional club teams) invitational tournament with as many as 16 games in total.  An estimated 120 copies of our tournament program will be published which will acknowledge and highlight the gift of each contributor/sponsor and will also contain advertising space (inside front cover, inside and outside of the back cover, portions of individual pages) for any organization interested in making a more substantial gift and also receiving some further publicity.  For major gifts/sponsorships there may be space available at the Ocasek Natatorium (ONAT) during the tournament to display promotional materials or signage, advertising (or thank you or acknowledgement) banners and/or on our club web site http://www3.uakron.edu/aquatics/index.html which we will gladly arrange directly with you, your organization or any interested sponsors.   Thank you again, as we greatly appreciate you and/or your organization’s most generous support!!!
