Students who would like to access their Home Folders and Class Folders from outside the Myers School of Art please use the directions below.
In order to access the Intranet website from outside the University you will need to make a VPN connection to the University of Akron's server. To do this please use the directions below to establish a VPN connection.
1 At the FINDER choose GO --> CONNECT TO SERVER. The Keyboard Shortcut is COMMAND K
2 Type in: myfiles.art.uakron.edu
3 Click CONNECT.
4 You will be prompted for a username and password. Please use your UANetID and password.
5 From the list of volumes, choose your class. *Class folders are organized by the call number of the class.
6 Some people may be prompted with a message about being unable to make a secure connection. Simply ignore this message by clicking the CONTINUE button.
**You can also choose the volume STUDENTS to access your home folder and files.
--> You can also drag the mounted volume into your DOCK for a one-click access.
MAC OS 10.2 - JAGUAR USERS CLICK HERE!
1 First establish a VPN connection. To do this Open INTERNET CONNECT. This application is located in your APPLICATIONS folder.
2 Click on the FILE menu and choose NEW VPN connection.
3 Choose PPTP and then click CONTINUE
4 From the drop down menu choose EDIT CONFIGURATIONS
5 Fill in the information below:
Description: University of Akron
Server Address: vpn.uakron.edu
Account Name: your UANetID
Authentication: USE PASSWORD: your UANetID password
6 Check the box SHOW VPN Status in Menu Bar
7 Click CONNECT
Use the information from the above directions to connect to your class folder. To connect to your HOME FOLDER choose the volume STUDENTS instead of your class folder.
