ART HISTORY
In the two-tiered art history program, students begin with art appreciation and survey classes and then advance to specialized study of periods in Western art from ancient to contemporary. Students gain a sound basis for further study which, if desired, may be enhanced through internships. Art history students share studio classes with studio art majors, thus gaining valuable insights into materials, techniques and issues. The study of art history is enhanced by Folk Hall's extensive slide library, which contains more than 70,000 slides, 28,000 books, 175 films and videos, and 75 trade journals and periodicals. Those holdings are in addition to the University libraries, which feature more than 1 million bound volumes and 1.6 million titles available on microfilm. OhioLink, an on-line service, also provides quick, easy and free access to the holdings of libraries throughout the state.
