7100: 144 TWO-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN
Course Description:
Fundimental information about the theory and practice of visual design as applied to surfaces including composition, color, and pictoral illusions with lecture and studio experience.

Rationale:
Basic level foundation courses prepare and encourage students to explore ideas as they develop formal skills in preparation for upper level studio courses.

Course Objectives:
1. To introduce students to the formal elements, principles, and aspects of two-dimensional composition.
2. To develop students' abilities to apply formal constructs of visual thinking to the communication of content.
3. To develop students' abilities to analyze artwork critically through examination of the formal constructs of visuaol thinking.
4. To introduce students to the art making process.
