WHLO-AM to Carry All 1997-98 Zips Men's Basketball Games

WHLO-AM (640) serves as the flagship station for the Zips, covering 66 of Ohio's 88 counties, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. Veteran sportscaster Steve French begins his eighth year as play-by-play voice, while University of Akron Sports Information Director Jeff Brewer provides commentary.

Games via Phone

For fans outside the listening area, TRZ Sports Services, in Akron, will broadcast Zips' games via telephone. The toll-free number to reach TRZ via a touch-tone phone in the United States or Canada is 1-800-846-4700. There is a charge to your credit card. The University of Akron's four-digit code at TRZ Sports Services is 1745.

1997-98 Zips Men's Basketball TV Games

WBNX-TV 55 will carry live three men's basketball home games this season, including two Mid-American Conference contests. The games in this package are: Capital on November 25, Eastern Michigan on February 5 and Kent on February 19. Tip-off time for Capital is 8:00 p.m. Tip-off times of 7:30 p.m. for EMU and Kent may be adjusted to accommodate the television broadcasts.

The Dan Hipsher Show

University of Akron men's basketball coach Dan Hipsher will come into your living room every week and talk Zips basketball. The Dan Hipsher Show begins Tuesday, January 6 and will run for the next nine Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. on WVPX-TV Channel 23.

The half-hour show, hosted by Joe Dunn, features coach Hipsher taking a look at action from the past week, previewing upcoming games and a player interview segment.
