Welcome! You've stumbled across the webpage of the Akron Volleyball Club. The AVC is a student group at the University of Akron for those who love the sport of VOLLEYBALL. The club was born in '96 when a few guys wanted to play volleyball beyond what intramurals offered. That first year was a struggle. We had seven guys who faithfully showed up for graveyard shift practices in a tiny, pathetic gym with no money, no uniforms and little talent. Since then the group has grown and improved in all respects. This year the mens team will be competeing at the collegiate club level in the EIVA Ohio-Pennsylvania league. We'll try to keep this page upto date as we go through the '99 season.
'99 Season Postscript: Congratulations to IUP the '99 OH-PA League Camps! Kudos also to CWRU and IUP for a great showing at Nationals, including Case's Rick Hopf being named to the all tourney team! Akron enjoyed our rookie year in this league and I was happy to keep this page as an upto date resource. Next year I'm out in the real world, so best of luck to the AVC and the OH-PA League!
