About the Ensemble
The University of Akron Symphonic Band, conducted by Robert D. Jorgensen, is the most select concert band organization at The University of Akron. This ensemble is selected by audition from the finest performers on campus. The Symphonic Band has been a featured ensemble at the Ohio Music Education Association Convention, the College Band Directors National Association Convention, and the American Bandmasters Association Convention.

Rehearsals
The Symphonic Band meets on Monday and Wednesday from 4:25 to 6:05 p.m. and on Friday from 3:20 to 4:30 p.m.

Auditions
Auditions are required for placement in both the Symphonic and Concert Bands and are held the first and second day of class during the fall semester. A sign up sheet is available outside the band office in Guzzetta Hall approximately two weeks prior to the start of school. Audition materials will be available during the summer months but you must contact the band office to receive the necessary information and excerpts.
