2010 PERCUSSION AUDITIONS
The first round of Percussion Auditions for the
2010 University of Akron Marching Band will be held on Saturday April
24, 2010 starting at 9:00 a.m.. The second round of Percussion Auditions will be held on Saturday May
8, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour break for
lunch on your own. Both rounds of auditions will be held in Guzzetta Hall (corner of Hill and Buchtel Streets), Room 09. Attendance at both auditions is mandatory.
The
requirements for the first round of Percussion
Auditions will include:

You will be expected to play the following::
3. Sight-Reading
Note: Snare drummers are expected to play with "traditional grip" and all percussionists should bring their own sticks and/or mallets for the
both audition dates. Bass drummers are
advised to learn all parts.
You
may leave after your audition is complete
(approximately 1/2 hour on a first come, first
serve basis) on the first audition. You
will be required to participate all day on the
second round of auditions.
The second round of auditions on May
8,
2010 will be a full "ensemble" rehearsal and clinic with a guest clinician
in attendance. You will be judged on your ability to make improvements and perform within the "ensemble" setting.
You will also be judged on the amount of material that is memorized
from the Percussion Manual which will be given to you at the first
round of auditions.
Spectators, guests, and parents are not permitted to observe auditions.

19, 2010.
