Twirling Auditions

Feature twirler auditions for the 2008 University of Akron Marching Band will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please meet in the atrium of Guzzetta Hall (corner of Hill and Buchtel Streets) at 9:00 a.m.

Audition requirements include:

  1. A single baton routine of 2-3 minutes;

  2. A double (or multiple) baton routine of 2-3 minutes;

  3. A basic "line" strut; and

  4. Two high aerial tosses.

In addition, you will be asked to "improvise" a short routine to evaluate your adaptability, presence, and precision. Please prepare both your single and double baton routines to taped/CD music-a cassette/CD player will be provided. Please do not involve streamer twirling or knives in your routine.

No specific uniform is required for these tryouts. As this audition will be held outside, please come prepared to perform in comfortable and appropriate clothing. In case of inclement weather, we will hold auditions at an indoor site.

Spectators, guests, and parents are not permitted to observe auditions.
