Jonathan
Helmick serves as Graduate
Assistant of Bands at The
University of Akron. A graduate
summa cum laude of The
University of Akron, Jonathan
received his two undergraduate
degrees in Music Education and
Business and Organizational
Communications, both with
honors.
During
his undergraduate career, he
performed in The University of
Akron Symphonic Band, Concert
Band, University Band, Marching
Band, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble,
Tuba Christmas and traveled with
the 2007-2008 Symphonic Band on
their European tour. A student
teacher with the Wadsworth Local
School District, he studied with
directors Steve Hadgis and Dana
Hire while instructing in all
levels of the music curriculum.
Member and past president of The
University of Akron chapter of
The Ohio Collegiate Music
Education Association, Mr.
Helmick has also received the
distinction of 'Outstanding
Music Education Student' in 2008
from The University of Akron
School of Music, is a member of
the music honorary Pi Kappa
Lambda, and is an Eagle Scout.
