This class changes each time I teach it. In general, I expect to have one field trip a week (Thursdays) throughout the semester. Most field trips will be to the Bath Nature Preserve, but other potential spots include Singer Lake, Kent Bog, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Lake Erie). There may be a weekend field trip to someplace further away.
There will be a different group exercise/experiment about every 2 weeks. Possible topics include thermoregulation, bird behavior, pollination, community comparison lab, and so forth).
There will be individual or small group research projects
You will learn to keep a field notebook
You will learn to identify some of Ohio's common plants and animals
You will gain experience in planning and conducting ecological experiments and observations.
