José de Lima Siqueira (1713bytes)

b. Conceicao, June 24, 1907.
     He played saxophone and trumpet, taking instruction from his father: then entered the National School of Music in Rio de Janeiro, where he studied with Burle Marx and Francisco Braga. He founded the Orquesta Sinfónica Brasileira (1940), which he conducted until 1948; in 1949 he organized the Orquesta Sinfónica de Rio de Janeiro, he also filled engagements as a conductor in the U.S. (1944) and Russia (1955).
