INTERNSHIPS

The Kauffman Entrepreneurial Internship Program (KEIP) is an internationally recognized initiative that provides unique entrepreneurial opportunities for highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students in the University of Akron’s School of Business.

The program offers several student internship appointments every school year. These appointments will require student interns to work directly with an entrepreneur, president, or senior executive in a high-growth, innovative company located in the greater-Akron/Cleveland/Canton area. Interns will be expected to add meaningful value to the work environment and to produce a number of useful deliverables to company management.

Being selected as a Kauffman intern is both an honor and a challenge. Interns will be able to participate in exciting, hands-on, experience-based learning opportunities in entrepreneurial work environments.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS
Seniors or graduate students in good standing enrolled in the University of Akron are eligible for the program. Candidates must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, taken alt least one course in entrepreneurship, and have a minor in entrepreneurship. Kauffman intern candidates are required to enroll for 3 credits and work 20 hours per week.

To Apply (Students)
For students to be considered for a Kauffman internship, they must complete a Kauffman Intern Application*, provide a professional resume, schedule an interview with the internship director, show a serious interest in pursuing entrepreneurship, and register for the appropriate internship class.

HOST EMPLOYER ELIGIBILITY
The host company must be an entrepreneurial company in the Akron/Cleveland/Canton area. Employers must be willing to pay 2/3 of the intern's hourly salary. Hourly salaries vary from $9-15/hour. One-third of the amount will be covered by the Kauffman Foundation. Host employers are expected to provide a clear and substantial role for the interns, and the intern must be allowed to work directly with the host employer's senior decision-makers - with exposure to the founder/entrepreneur where possible - and experience the multiple facets of the company.

To Apply (Host Employers)
Prospective host employers who meet the desired criteria and basic standards of the Kauffman program should contact the Fitzgerald Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (FIES).
