ENTREPRENEURSHIP COURSES OPEN TO ALL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The nationally ranked entrepreneurship program is open to all university students. This allows for students to work in teams with people with different functional backgrounds. Research has shown that 70% of new ventures are started by people without a business background.
All students have the ability to learn about the various aspects of entrepreneurship (e.g., starting a business, buying a business or franchise, managing a family business, corporate entrepreneurship, and working for a small business or non-profit enterprise). All faculty that teach in the program have been successful entrepreneurs.
UA’s innovative entrepreneurship program is fully integrated with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Technology Transfer Center, Akron Incubator, along with many other organizations from industry and the government. The program is experiential with students gaining the ability to work with venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and other leaders from industry. The program invites guest speakers from industry, has an internship program, and consults with some small businesses. For more information on courses please contact Dr. Todd A. Finkle, Director, Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, finklet@uakron.edu, 330-972-8479.
