UA'S SIFE CHAPTER EARNS HONORS
AT 2005 SIFE COMPETITION The University of Akron's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Chapter participated in a regional SIFE competition and were 2nd runner up in their division. This is an excellent achievement given that this team was only together for a few months. The team beat out The Ohio State University, which is currently ranked above UA in national entrepreneurship program rankings.
The team consisted of Deshon Wright (Chairman), Monica Robb (Vice-Chair), Kristen Curtis (President/CEO), Frank Colarik (Project Manager), Vivek Tomer (Project Manager), James Giblin (VP Technology and Project Manager), Breean Miller (Secretary), Natalya Bozdacheva (Creative Director), Jairzinho Adeyina (VP Sales), Phil Harris, and Kari Bauman. Dr. Todd A. Finkle, Director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies was the primary faculty advisor. Dr. Gwendolyn Jones also assisted the team in their preparations.
SIFE is a global, non-profit organization that is literally changing the world through highly dedicated student teams on more than 1800 university campuses in more than 40 countries. SIFE offers these students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise, thereby improving the standard of living for millions in the process. Guided by distinguished faculty advisors and supported by businesses around the globe, SIFE Teams teach important concepts through educational outreach projects, including market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, and business ethics to better themselves, their communities and their countries. Each year, SIFE competitions are held worldwide, drawing together thousands of students and business leaders to pay tribute to these extraordinary educational outreach projects.
