Comments from past participants:

Having traveled to five of the seven continents I can say that hands down my time spent in Ghana on Dr. Ofobike's trip was my favorite.

The trip was well planned down to every last detail and the in-country program was extremely informative and educational.  I would highly recommend the trip to anyone who is willing, or has the desire to learn about the rich heritage and culture of a country that is very different yet very similar to the United States. “Martin Mayer (2005 program)”

This trip was a great experience in a place so vastly different from ours.   Prof. Ofobike does a fantastic job in coordinating the trip and making sure you experience many aspects of Ghanaian life, from the culture and history, to the industry, education, and government.  There is no other study abroad where you'll get to visit slave castles, rainforests, cocoa farms, metropolitan areas as well as villages, one room school houses and advanced institutions.  The experiences I gained from this trip are unparalleled.  I have done many study abroad trips and this trip is by far, one of the best. “Marci Clemens (2005 program)”

I learned a great deal about history, politics, and society while in Ghana but I also was fortunate enough to experience personal cultural differences in my free time.  Having some free time let me get to know Ghana on a more personal level.  I was enlightened to see both the similarities and cultural differences compared to the United States.  The deep family values that almost everyone we met seemed to subscribe to came as a surprise to me.  I still have an incredible amount to learn and that is one reason I hope to return to Ghana in the future. Frances Nicholson, (2003 program)”
