| John Soat, Editor, Information Week
John Soat is the editor of InformationWeek magazine, a national business-technology magazine that reaches about a half-million readers every week. An award-winning journalist, John has been writing about business and technology for more than 20 years, covering some of the most significant developments in the technology industry, including the Justice Dept.'s investigation of Microsoft. Along with overseeing the magazine's editorial content, John is actively involved in shaping InformationWeek's online editorial strategy. John also writes a weekly gossip column, IT Confidential.
Steve Dominak joined the Morgan Adhesives Company in September 2000. Morgan Adhesives Company is based in Stow, Ohio and manufacturers Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) Solutions. MACtac is owned by the Bemis Corporation, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging. Mr. Dominak holds patents in RFID applications using MACtac designed PSA solutions. Prior to joining MACtac, Mr. Dominak led the Technical Products group for eight years at Premier Farnell, specializing in technical solutions. Previous to this he worked for the Warner and Swasey company where he managed major machine tool system projects. Mr. Dominak holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Fenn College of Engineering. He is also a member of IEEE.
Joe Dunlap is a Project Director at Siemens Business Services and a shared resource serving as a Senior Business Development Manager for Siemens One. Joe is an area lead in Siemens >Dematic’s Supply Chain Solutions group. Joe has 15 years experience in fulfillment operations where his areas of specialty include distribution operations, facility design, warehouse management system implementation, transportation management and RFID. Prior to joining Siemens, Joe was a manager in Accenture’s Supply Chain Practice and held numerous positions with United Parcel Service in areas such as: industrial engineering, operations, information technology, and business development. Joe has also served as Secretary and Vice President for the Atlanta Chapter of Warehousing Education Research Council (WERC), member of Council of Logistics Management (CLM) and member of the RFID Experts Group (REG).
Tom Andel is chief editor of Material Handling Management magazine, a Penton Media publication serving plant and warehouse professionals responsible for the movement of product through every link in the supply chain. He joined the staff as senior editor in 1998 when the magazine was called Material Handling Engineering. Before that, Tom spent 14 years covering several other disciplines and industries while on the staffs of Transportation & Distribution, Appliance Manufacturer, Communications News, and Power Transmission Design. He also had four years of experience on the advertising and sales promotion side of business communications in the Commercial Services Department at Allen-Bradley, a Rockwell International Company. Tom graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1978 with a B.A. degree in English. During his career in the business press, Tom has received numerous editorial excellence awards from American Business Media, the American Society of Business Publication Editors and The Press Club of Cleveland. He is a member of the Warehousing Education and Research Council and serves on the board of WERC's Northeast Ohio WERCouncil, a local chapter.
Paul Fledderjohann, Manager, Process Engineering, North America Tire Supply Chain, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Paul F. Fledderjohann has 27 years experience with The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Corporation. Paul began his career in the Goodyear Aerospace Defense Systems Division and became the Manager of Product Engineering for this organization. He then transferred to Goodyear Tire and Rubber and was promoted to Corporate R&D Project Manager. Paul began the next phase of his career in the Global Engineering and Manufacturing Technology Division.In this role he was responsible for the automated material handling and product identification systems. This responsibility included the development of a tire identification standard that was critical for implementing automated tire handling systems. Currently, Paul is the Manager of Process Engineering for the North America Tire Supply Chain. In this role he is responsible for automated logistic systems that are used in tire warehouse facilities. This technology has been implemented in numerous Goodyear Plant Warehouses for accurate tire deployment aimed at customer satisfaction. Paul is also a part of Goodyear’s RFID Implementation Team. This technology will be used in Goodyear’s future supply chain strategies. Tony Gallo has over ten years of experience providing identification and tracking solutions. Successful projects are in production in a variety of applications including; warehouse distribution, automotive supply chain and product build execution. Specifically in 1997, Mr. Gallo joined Rockwell Automation to manage project implementations of the Allen-Bradley RFID product. He designed software for integration with production control systems. Due to IC chip shortages, A-B discontinued their product. He successfully converted the control systems so Toyota, BMW, Ford, and other clients could integrate third party RFID products into their business systems.
Joe Jiner, Director of Business Development Logistic & RFID, The Kennedy Group Joe Jiner is the director of business development, Logistic & RFID Division at The Kennedy Group, a full service provider of EPC compliant, turnkey RFID solutions. This technology neutral company offers tags, smart labels, readers, printers and applicators as well as testing in its Customer Solution Center, software sources, installation and support. Jiner is currently focusing on new RFID business development, managing and maintaining The Kennedy Group’s Customer Solution Center and establishing strategic alliances and partnerships. Prior to joining The Kennedy Group, Jiner was manager of business solutions development for RFID at Moore North America servicing major accounts in automotive, distribution and packaging. He also has 11 year of experience with Monarch Marking Systems as manager of sales support with a focus on data collection, thermal printer and RF applications. James Barlow has undergraduate degrees in mathematics and Industrial Engineering from Syracuse University, and a Masters of Science in Engineering Management from University of Massachusetts. In 1991, Mr. Barlow co-founded Western Reserve Controls, a manufacturer of electronic components used in Industrial Automation, including network interface gateways for RFID tag readers. Prior to co-founding WRC, Mr. Barlow has held sales, business development and engineering positions at the Allen-Bradley Company; The Foxboro Company;Westinghouse Electric in Sydney, Australia; and Leeds & Northrup Co. Tom Brady, the UCC’s Vice President of AIDC, has extensive experience in the field of automatic identification data capture and is one of the industry’s most respected technology experts. Mr. Brady joined the Uniform Code Council in 1991 and his in-depth AIDC experience has been instrumental in the UCC’s development of the next generation of supply chain applications for AIDC technology. As the UCC’s Vice President for this crucial area, Mr. Brady providesvision and direction for AIDC technology issues for point-of-sale, logistics, location, and asset identification for a diverse range of industries. He is responsible for the technical accuracy and efficiency of UCC product identification and AIDC standards. Mr. Brady serves on a variety of international technology committees to ensure that the interests of users are kept at the forefront of technical delivery. Mr. Brady earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of ToledoBarbara A. Osyk, Ph. D., CPIM, Associate Professor of Management, The University of Akron.
She teaches in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Business Statistics, and Operations Management. Her research interests include supply chain management topics and the scholarship of teaching & learning. Barb is an active member in a number of professional organizations and she serves on the board of the Northeast Ohio WERCouncil (a local chapter of the Warehousing Education and Research Council.) She is also a SoTAL (Scholarship of Teaching, Assessment & Learning) fellow through the Institute for Teaching & Learning at The University of Akron.
Vijayaraman (Vijay) is a Professor of Management & Information Systems in the department of Management at The University of Akron. He has been a faculty member at UA since 1989. Vijay teaches in the areas of Management Information Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning, and e-Commerce/e-Business. His researchinterest includes Curriculum Issues in Information Systems, Impact of InformationTechnology in Organizations, E-Business Strategy and RFID. He has published more than 25 refereed journal articles and more than 50 refereed proceeding papersat international, national, and regional conferences. He has also co-authored a textbook titled - Problem Solving with Microsoft Excel for Windows 95. |
