Extra Credit Opportunities, Fall 2006

There are two ways to get extra credit; completing a unit in either category will add 1% to your final semester grade.

Archaeology Lectures and Workshops

Attend a lecture or take part in a workshop. Write a short (doesn't have to be more than one page).

Read Some Original Research in Ancient Sports

Read a piece of original work on ancient sports, write a summary and submit it along with a photocopy of the article or book chapter (you can read a whole book for 2 points).

Online articles are almost never acceptable because they are usually derivative; Wikipedia is especially not OK!

Look at Thomas .F Scanlon's Greek and Roman athletics: a bibliography, Bierce call no. GV573 .S31 1984 (it should be on Reserve).

Or email me with a topic area and I can make a suggestion.

Primary research is not always easy to read, so you need to be determined!

You may have to allow time to order an article through OhioLink, so don't email me any later than the week before Thanksgiving!!
