On Saturday, April 22, 1967, Zeta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered under the direction of the Akron/Canton Alumnae Chapter and Soror Nona Ross, Regional Director. Zeta Alpha Chapter was initially established as an undergraduate city wide chapter. The members of this newly formed chapter were sorors:

Zeta Alpha Chapter has kept in line with the national initiative by committing itself to the fundamental principles of our beloved sorority.
Traditional programs of the chapter include Tribute to Black Excellence Award Banquet, Girl Talk, MS Walk, Keep Akron Beautiful, and many more.
Zeta Alpha Chapter also sponsors fundraisers which benefit organizations such as The Salvation Army, MS Foundation, and various Hospice Programs. Zeta Alpha has also provided care packages, food, clothing, and monetary donations to the Battered Women's Shelter, Harvest for Hunger, and the Haven of Rest Mission.
The chapter also took the initiative to collect and disseminate literature on a variety of issues from safer-sex and better health, to domestic violence and date rape.
Zeta Alpha Chapter continues to maintain it's standards of service through community involvement and it's strong emphasis on both personal and academic excellence.
