Students will be housed in the Honors Residence Hall, opened in September of 2004. The Honors Residence Hall is located at the epicenter of campus, bordered by Bierce Library, the College of Education, and the cafeteria where students will eat their meals.
The rooms are large, air-conditioned, and include hook-ups for cable TV. Most of the floors include two study lounges and one social lounge.
With the residential option, students will stay starting on Sunday, July 19, until July 31, except for the weekend. Students will be picked up by their parents on Friday after 5:00 and will return on Sunday evening for the next week. The cost for room, board, and activities for the two weeks is $585.47. Activities may include a trip to Canal Park to see a minor league baseball game (weather permitting), bowling, pool, swimming, rock climbing wall, a visit to the Akron Art Museum, movies, and games. Up to three scholarships are available for students who qualify.
Besides the residential option, commuter students may take part in dinner and the evening activity at the cost of $15 per evening. Students can be picked up at 9:30 p.m. at the dorm lobby.
The Honors Institute is FREE for students who will be commuting to campus daily and leave at 5:00.
