Grants:
Grant funds can be acquired
through both local and state level grants in Ohio.
State Grants:
Assistive Technology Infusion Project (ATIP) - Collborative project
between Ohio Department of Education, Office of Exceptional
Children and Ohio SchoolNet to fund assistive technology for specific
students. Grants are based on individual student need, and the
technology's ability to allow the student access to the general
education curriculum. Grants have included hardware (wearable
computer, accessories) and software for specific students.
Foundation Grants:
The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation in Cleveland, OH funded the
classroom of Eric Van Raepenbusch to research the applications of a
wearable computer for students with learning disabilities. This grant
was through the Open Grant Application, and was funded in
November 2002.
