Specialized Language Consulting Services

Through our Language Consulting Services, you can receive language advice from one of our ELI instructors. Unlike private tutoring, in which instruction is scheduled over a few weeks or months, our language consulting services involve one or two meetings to assist you with a specific language need.

Our Language Consulting Services include:

Editing
Are you writing an important letter, report, job manual, journal article, sign, or other document? Would you like an English language expert to review your document for you and make sure that it achieves your purpose, reaches your audience, and is correct in all respects?

Contract with the ELI's Language Consulting Services to work with one of our instructors, who will help you polish your written work.

Resume Writing
Are you looking for a new job? Do you need to develop a resume that will give you a competitive edge in your field?

Work with one of our ELI instructors, who will help you create a resume that highlights your skills and follows one of the commonly used formats for resumes in the United States.

Assessment of Language Proficiency
Do you need an expert assessment of your ESL ability or of the ability of one of your employees?

Through the ELI's Language Consulting Services, one of our instructors can select or devise and administer an assessment instrument that will indicate proficiency level in any of the four skill areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

And More...
We can help you rehearse for an important oral presentation or job interview. We can show you how to use an English-English dictionary efficiently or how to write an effective thank you letter. We can assist you with any English language need that you have.

The ELI's Language Consulting Service is cost effective...

For consulting sessions at The University of Akron, the rate per hour is only $60.00. If the sessions are held at your house or place of business, there may be an additional cost for the instructor's travel time.
