Research Interests

Dr. Kunze's fields of specialization are engineering geophysics, tectonophysics and analysis of potential fields. His current research interests include the analysis of geophysical data in search of subterranean cavities in the Bahamas, geoelectrical surveys in the Bahamas to map freshwater lenses, the analysis of tidal water fluctuations in coastal wells in terms of their relationship to hydrogeologic parameters, and computer modelling of gravity and magnetic anomalies in the Rocky Mountain foreland of Wyoming and Colorado in terms of subsurface structures.

Other research conducted by Dr. Kunze involved the determination of focal mechanism solutions of earthquakes in Iran and the Philippines, the analysis of satellite Doppler tracking data in terms of local gravity anomalies in the lunar and terrestrial gravity fields, and computer modelling of the isostatic adjustment of the lunar and terrestrial crust. Dr. Kunze has been a research associate at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, and a Fulbright Scholar at the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Kiel, Federal Republic of Germany.
