Maurice Jr. Labelle

"Maurice Jr. Labelle is a Ph.D. Candidate in U.S. history focusing on U.S. Foreign Relations, with minor fields in World and Modern Middle Eastern history. His M.A. research, completed at the University of Ottawa, challenged the conventional view that the Palestinian problem seriously imperiled early Saudi-American relations, from the first Saudi-American exchange regarding Palestine in 1938 to the immediate aftermath of the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948-49. His current research interests include Arab-American relations and Israel's influence on the latter; foreign perceptions of the United States; U.S. cultural diplomacy and propaganda; and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

In 2007, Maurice received a research grant from the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library. Recently, he also presented a paper at the annual conference for the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations."
