Application
The Honors College welcomes applications from all self-challenging, highly motivated and high-achieving learners who have demonstrated their abilities to excel.
Application Guidelines: First consideration is given to those who provide evidence of each of the following:
- high school cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50, including participation in Honors, AP, or IB classes
- ACT composite score of at least 27, or SAT combined score of at least 1800
- high school class rank among the highest 10 percent
Special Circumstances: If you have not met all of the above standards, you should include an explanation when submitting the Honors Application Essay.
Test Scores: Your highest ACT/SAT composite test score is the one considered for your application. If your test score is not as high as you wish, such as an ACT score less than 24, we recommend taking it more than once. If your ACT/SAT test score is not yet available, you may fill out the application below and arrange to have the test score sent directly later, but tell us when to expect to receive it.
An Honors College application is separate from the general UA application. Students should also complete (i) an application to the University and (ii) a general scholarship supplemental information form .
Recommendation Letter: A recommendation letter is encouraged but is not required. Click here for the recommendation form. To clarify your qualifications or to check on your application, please contact the Honors College by phone at (330) 972-7966 or by e-mail at honors@uakron.edu.
The electronic application below is preferred. If you would rather complete a hard copy application, then download and complete a hard copy application (be sure that your general admission application includes a transcript) and send to: Honors College Admissions, The University of Akron, Akron, OH 44325-1803
