Article Indexes and Abstracts

• CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health) covers the English-language journal literature related to nursing (indexes approximately 500 nursing journals) and the allied health disciplines. 1982- present.
• Health Reference Center - Academic contains full-text articles on health-related topics, such as fitness, pregnancy, medicine, nutrition, diseases, public health, occupational health and safety, alcohol and drug abuse, prescription drugs, and more. 1994- present.
• MEDLINE- current years (1977-present) is produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and is the premier index for world-wide coverage of the biomedical literature. Included is information from the print International Nursing Index. Coverage is for more than 3,600 journals. Abstracts are available for nearly 70% of the records. Updated monthly.
• MEDLINE- complete database (1966-present)

  Note: AIDSLINE, BioEthics, and HealthStar data bases are now included in MEDLINE.

• PUBMED is NLM's free version of MEDLINE. It contains links to the full-text versions of articles at participating publishers' Web sites and access to PREMEDLINE basic citation information and abstracts before full records are prepared and added to MEDLINE. PREMEDLINE is updated daily.
• CancerLit  Covers all aspects of cancer therapy and research from journals, symposia, government reports, and selected books. Covers from 1988 on. Updated monthly.
• CHID  (Combined Health and Information Database)   is a joint project of the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 18 major topical areas are covered, each of which can be searched separately. Covers from 1985 on.  Updated quarterly.
• PsycINFO  contains Nursing, Health and Medicine, as well as Public Policy in its subject coverage. It includes citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and technical reports, all in the field of psychology and the psychological aspects of related disciplines, such as medicine, nursing, and pharmacology. English-language material published from 1987-present.
• Social Sciences Citation Index  provides access to current bibliographic information and cited references, covering more than 1700 of the world's leading social sciences journals in a broad range of disciplines. Subjects covered include, but are not limited to: Family studies, Geriatrics, Health policy, Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Social work, Sociology, and Substance abuse.
• Biological Abstracts/BIOSIS Previews  contains abstracts and bibliographic references to worldwide biological and medical literature. Biological Abstracts contains references to journal items focusing on vital biological and medical research findings,pharmacological studies, and discoveries of new organisms. BIOSIS Previews also covers international meetings, review articles, books, and monographs.
• Alt-HealthWatch Alt-HealthWatch is a full-text and image database that focuses on complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health and wellness. It has 44,000 full text articles from 160 international peer-reviewed and professional journals, magazines, reports, proceedings, association and consumer newsletters.
