Glossary
- Approval Plan
- An arrangement with a book vendor whereby a library receives books selected by the vendor according to the library's profile. Books may be accepted for purchase or rejected and returned to the vendor.
- Extended Approval Plan Interface
- See MARC Loader With Invoice
- Firm Order
- Order generated by the library to the vendor from sources other than vendor notification slips.
- GOBI
- Global Online Bibliographic Information. GOBI is YBP's online, interactive bibliographic information service, providing access to close to 2.0 million titles in an English language database.
- GobiLink
- After ordering in GOBI, YBP outputs daily batches of order confirmation records in a standard MARC format, for upload to the library's local system. At the point that orders are filled and books are supplied, the order confirmation records can be overlaid by cataloging records.
- GobiSelect
- Titles are searched and selected, but not ordered in GOBI. Selected records are exported via GobiBatch, in standard MARC format, for upload to the library's system for further consideration and local order creation.
- GobiSmart
- Allows for customization of the GOBI ordering screen. Unused data fields can be eliminated. Data fields can be renamed to match the library's specific intent. GobiSmart also provides verification of data elements at point of order (fund, location, etc.).
- Library Profile
- The subject and non-subject criteria that determine the shipment of books, notification slips, or no notification to the library.
- MARC Loader With Invoice
- This program is an extension of one that originally only dealt with approval records and their invoices. This program also works with Firm Orders and can load full MARC records and Item Records. This program is used for all loads that include an invoice
- MARC Loader Without Invoice
- The program used to load brief or full MARC cataloging records, Order records, and Item records. This program is used for all loads that do not include an invoice.
- Notification Slip
- Slip describing book titles that the library receives from the book vendor. The vendor selects the
