Spring 2007 Events
Meeting Dates TBA
Application and Membership Selection: We will advertise for the application for Mortar Board on ZipMail after Thanksgiving. Deadline will be on Febuary 23rd to give applicants enough time to submit them. We will try to post online applications to get rid of the hassle of finding the submission box. Membership selection should be decided on March 9th, needing 75% of the members agreement to accept an applicant.
Tapping: We will need all members to volunteer for this. Tapping days will be on March 27 and 28.
Induction Ceremony - This is our biggest event. We will have lunch set up on March 31st.
Faculty Tea - An old UA Mortar Board tradition. Each member is encouraged to invite a favority faculty member in order to recognize them for their excellence and service. Each faculty member invited will receive an award. Julianne will be planning this, so please send all suggestions her way. The event will be held on April 27th, a Friday.
Book Sale - The book sale is Mortar Board's bread and butter. We will be contacting faculty and friends to donate books throughout the year which we will in turn sell for a small fee (usually $1) in order to raise funds for a charity of our choice. We have had a lot of success in the past with this event and last year we raised over $600. Students will be asked to both help collect books and run the book drive, which is always held in the Student Union. We've decided on the last full week of January (Jan 23-25, T-Th). First, we will need volunteers to help collect books near the end of this semester and than we will need volunteers to help sell. Sign-Up for this will be posted later in the year.
