Well,
Prof. Jeantet and his cat Beanie
arrived safely in Haute Savoie on Friday.
After
an uneventful trip across the Atlantic (Beanie's 22nd crossing)
they were greeted by friends at Geneva's Cointrin airport and
driven home to the mountain village of Montmin, just a few miles
from Faverges and about 2000 feet higher up.
Saturday,
Prof. Jeantet will be going back to Geneva to greet Matthew and
Coda, who are arriving a day ahead of the group; on Sunday, back
to Geneva to pick up ten more students, this time accompanied
by AFA president Yvette Millot and Amy Smoot, a 2005 Program participant
who has just completed a one-year stint as an assistante d'anglais
in a French school. Perhaps Coda and Matthew will want to tag
along as well as they begin to recover from jet lag. And on Monday
morning, back to Geneva to pick up the last two, who are coming
late in order not to miss their UA graduation ceremony on Saturday.
Classes will start in earnest on Tuesday, as Monday is one of
many May holidays in France.
