PRELIMINARY REPORT : Thursday, May 14 1998

The 1998 University of Akron Summer Program in the Alps' First Report will be posted shortly, once the students have arrived. In the meantime, the Program Director can report that all is well in Faverges. Prof. Jeantet arrived on May 14th to look after any last-minute details in the organization of the Program. All is ready for the student group's arrival Saturday morning into Geneva airport. Some students will arrive on a 9:30 flight, others on an 11:00 flight. Our chartered bus will wait for all the students to arrive, and then proceed to Faverges. Estimated arrival time in Faverges is 1pm on Saturday. Host families will be waiting for their students on the market square (Place du Marché). Once the students are all safely home with their French families, an illustrated report will be posted on this page. Weather report: unseasonably warm, into the mid-80s, sunny; occasional brief thunderstorms are possible. Warm weather is to continue into next week. Nights will be cool, in the 50s.
