Eleven of the students of the Program arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, on three separate flights, within an hour of each other. Tired but relieved, they waited for their luggage to come down to the carousel. Christine K. waited in vain, as her bags were misplaced by British Airways in London (where she had been staying for a few days) though she was promised that her bags would be delivered to her home by evening. The other students cleared customs and wheeled their bags to our chartered bus. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() Three students were still missing, however. Paula and Tony, who were coming from Paris, soon arrived in the market square where they too were greeted by Yvette who drove them to her home for a copious lunch in the backyard of her home. ![]() ![]() The sole student unaccounted for, Julianna, as it turned out had been bumped from her flight and is now scheduled to arrive on Sunday morning. The Sunday morning visit of Faverges thus has to be postponed 'til afternoon, (Prof. Jeantet will drive to Geneva to retrieve Julianna), though coursework will begin, as planned, on Monday morning in the classroom graciously provided by the City Hall of Faverges. In addition to morning classes every morning of the week, we are planning to go into the mountains on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, visit the archeological museum on Thursday afternoon, and spend all day Saturday visiting the city of Annecy. Julianna finally arrived into Geneva on Sunday morning and shows her relief at reaching her destination in the picture at left below. Once she had had lunch with her host family, she joined the rest of the group for a Sunday afternoon stroll through Faverges. Everyone now knows how to find the classroom on Monday morning. ![]() ![]()
Next report on Wednesday. |
