The 1999 University of Akron Summer Program in the Alps' First Report will be posted shortly, once the students have arrived. Prof. Jeantet has arrived in Faverges two days before the group in order to make last-minute preparations for the Program. The flights were smooth and departed on time. A favorable jet-stream tailwind allowed us to arrive in Geneva ½ hour ahead of schedule.

Information about the weather in Faverges is posted below.

Weather forecast for the week of May 15th

The weather today was in the 70s and muggy. Partly sunny.

For up-to-date weather information for Annecy, just a few miles from Faverges, click on the sun/cloud icon below.

On the Annecy weather page, temperatures are displayed in degrees Celsius. To get Farenheit equivalent, a quick & dirty way is to double the Celsius temperature and add 30. This is close enough for most purposes...For example, 27 Celsius, doubled, give 54, plus 30, yields 84 degrees Farenheit. The actual temperature, derived from the correct formula
[ (C x 9/5) + 32 = F ] gives a result of 81.

Once the students are all safely home with their French families, an illustrated report will be posted on the "First Report" page.
