two summer study programs abroad.

The Summer Program
in the French Alps

The Summer Program in the Alps was first run in 1987, and has been a popular offering of the Department ever since. Also called the "Faverges Program," it runs for six weeks from mid-May to late June. Students who meet course prerequisites can register for classes and spend six weeks in the Alpine town of Faverges, near Geneva (Switzerland), and the French city of Annecy.

The Summer Program
in Valladolid, Spain

Bueniavista de CuellarThe Summer Program in Valladolid follows in the footsteps of the summer 2001 Costa Rica workshop, 2002 Santander Summer Program, and 2004 Cuernavaca Program in Mexico.
After successful experiences in Valladolid in the summers of 2005 and 2006, the Department is planning to offer another session in Valladolid in the summer of 2008; courses will be offered for up to seven college credits, and the program will last about five weeks. Like the Alps Program, it offers exceptional value and the opportunity for our students to live in a foreign culture.

Semester and year programs abroad

In addition to the Summer programs above, The University of Akron's Office of International Programs offers semester and year programs of study abroad. The OIP helps students to register for courses in foreign universities in countries all over the world.
