Careers in German:
Language majors often become teachers or language specialists for government
agencies (translating, interpreting, etc.). In addition a language major
is often combined with another field for international business, social
work, missionary work, etc. Since almost any career you choose will involve
either: certification, graduate studies, a minor, or a second major, it
is important to talk to Dr. Stephanie Grollman as early as possible about
career plans.
In order to attain the level of proficiency necessary for many jobs it is almost indispensable to spend some time studying or working where the language is spoken. We have files of information on work, volunteer, and study abroad programs which should be a part of your career plans.
