_Summer Program in China

_ runs 4 weeks, mid-May to mid-June


Students enroll in classes at Henan University for which they earn 4 credit hours. Housing is in double rooms in the Henan University Hotel.

The program includes a field trip to Beijing including the Great Wall, The Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, as well as field trips to nearby sites of historical and scenic interest.

Also included are varied cultural activities in and around Kaifeng (visit to a traditional Chinese medicine hospital, Dragon Pavilion Park, Kaifeng embroidery factory, etc.)

The program is open to Chinese language learners in good standing.

Participants must have successfully completed two semesters of collegelevel Chinese courses (up through Chinese 102 at The University of Akron) or the equivalent. Special consideration
may be given to students with less preparation. Students from other universities are welcome.

Eligible participants must enroll for Summer Session I at The University of Akron, with tuition paid for 4 credits.

Space in the program is limited and admission is selective.
