Strategy 5: Search for Titles in the Amazon

Using the computer lab in your school or a computer in your classroom, have students go to <HTTP://www.amazon.com> or <HTTP://www.barnesandnoble.com>, two of the largest online bookstores. Ask students to browse for works by their favorite authors or authors they have been reading in class. Explain that they will need to conduct a "search" by author.

Have each student locate five examples of titles that match the grammatical patterns described earlier by Kress, and then share these in class, discussing those that seemed effective and those that seemed ineffective.
