Have students locate an interesting image at one of the following sites:

This site contains a wide collection of scientific images, including shots from the Hubble Telescope, computer-generated images, and illustrations by Discovery's staff of artists.

This Yahoo site contains an excellent collection of sports photographs, including images of football, baseball, basketball, tennis, hockey, golf, and NASCAR racing.

          Using one of the introductory techniques explained in this chapter, have students write a brief introduction to a nonfiction article based on the image they choose. Require students to label the specific introductory techniques they develop.
