Uploading a Web Version for Students
This student section of the CD contains all the images and image links, but not the strategies and quotes. With this design, the teacher can present the strategies first.
By using the student version, your district computer coordinator can upload an online student website for use as a source of images for writing. Once the website is loaded, students can access the images and image links from any computer connected to the Internet, allowing materials to be used from the school library, the computer lab, or from home.
To accomplish this, you will only need to upload one file on the system server---the file labeled "students." (If your school doesn't have web capability, you can load the student website onto any private web account.) Once the file is loaded, assign the following as the last part of the access address: students/index.html. For example, if the address of your server is www.school.edu, the web address would be www.school.edu/students/index.html. Nothing else needs to be done.
Built into the student version is one feature not found in the teacher version---an e-mail option allowing students to e-mail you assignments. To make this work, have your computer coordinator replace the line in the "index.html" file that reads "emailaddress@goes.here" with your e-mail address. Students can then send you assignments with the click of the mouse.
