The Nursing Management and Business certificate program curriculum is designed to prepare postbaccalaureate nurses and post-master’s advanced practice nurses (i.e., clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, and certified nurse midwives) and/or current MSN and PhD students with the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively as patient care managers and leaders in a variety of organizational settings. Building on core and advanced practice courses, the student develops an understanding of leadership and organizational behavior theories plus competence in fiscal management, business strategies, human resource management, project/program planning and evaluation. Business plan development provides a framework for synthesizing the learning and experiences contained in all four certificate courses.
