The Center for Nursing, an academic nursing center,  opened in 1982 as one of the first academic nurse-managed centers in the United States.  Staff members provide non-emergency, episodic health care and health education to community residents who do not have health insurance.

Through its long-standing involvement in the community, the Center for Nursing Clinics has established two satellite clinics.  The Village Clinic is located in Callis Tower through the Alpha Phi Alpha Housing Program, and the Care Clinic is at ACCESS, Inc.

The Center for Nursing Clinics are AHEC clinical education sites. Ninety to one hundred health profession students receive clinical experience at the clinics annually.
