The University of Akron's Outdoor Adventure club exists to provide opportunities for training and experience in the outdoor sports. We aim to discover healthy and enjoyable ways to experience the natural environment around us, as well as to instill an awareness of how to conserve it.
We will accomplish this through on-campus meetings, weekend outings, and extended excursions. The outdoors are our arena and classroom, and we'll be exploring local parks and recreation areas, as well as national forests and other wilderness areas. We will also give back to the community through annual community service trips.
In addition to our adventures, we explore training in the many specific skills required in wilderness travel, such as first aid, cookery, rock climbing, safety, survival skills, and equipment management, to name a few. It is our goal to foster the development of physical and mental skills, self-sufficiency, self-confidence, leadership, service, teamwork, and other qualities that reflect personal and social maturity in its members.
Join us! Your weekends may never be the same again...
