Detective Bureau
Under the Supervision of Lieutenant Bryan Taylor, the detective bureau at The University of Akron Police department is responsible for investigating a wide variety of cases. The detective bureau works closely with the City of Akron Police detective bureau as many crimes on campus also occur in the near vicinity. Detectives may be called upon to solve crimes such as; stolen cars, book theft, stolen computers, computer crimes, bike thefts, employee disputes, etc.
The detective division is also responsible for protection of dignitaries while they are on campus. The University of Akron Police have provided protection for presidents, vice presidents, congressman and senators as well as prime ministers, and other various heads of state. Working hand in hand with The Secret Service, the FBI and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, UAPD personnel have smoothly handled on-campus events with an efficient and effective manner.
