Hera's a Hit

Officer Helmick and Officer Hera have been sworn in and train with the Summit County's K9 team. They train one day a week with the Summit County K9 officers to hone and perfect their skills. To this date they have been called on to assist:

The Akron Police Department

The Copley Police Department

The Barberton Police Department

The Summit County Sheriff's Office

Some of the duties that they have performed are:

School Sweeps with the Akron Police Department and the Summit County Sheriff's Office

Explosive sweeps prior to the arrival of Governor Taft

Building sweeps of UA buildings having bomb threats

Assisted Copley Police with a suspicious package

Performed numerous demonstrations and community awareness training sessions

Recently Officers Helmick and Hera were able to track and identify a bank robbery suspect who was later arrested and charged by the Akron Police Department.
