| Implementation Plan | |
| Already approved under the curriculum changes listed below: New undergraduate minor, undergraduate certificate, and two graduate certificates will be implemented beginning in fall 2002.
(see AS-02-19; AS-02-118; AS-02-119; AS-02-129) The minor and undergraduate (AS-02-19 and AS-02-129) certificate created by the curriculum changes listed in this box should replace the deleted certificate information in the Undergraduate Bulletin. The two graduate certificates should be included in the next Graduate Bulletin. Any student who was enrolled in the program prior to these changes can work with me to develop an appropriate list of substitution courses that both meet Center standards and student expectations from a previous era. Last year there were two students in the program, one graduated, and the one remaining student will graduate this year. | |

| Rationale: | |
| The Center for Conflict Management, now jointly administered by Political Science and Sociology, as completely revised and updated it curriculum in the form of a new undergraduate minor, undergraduate certificate, and two graduate certificates to replace the older certificate that is being deleted with this proposal in order to provide a more focused academic experience for our students, one that will both train them to work toward the peaceful resolution of conflict and to think critically about the larger political, economic, and social contexts within which conflict management practices are developed and implemented. | |

| NOTE TO DATA PROCESSOR: This proposal means we will delete all the current content in the section of the Undergraduate Bulletin--page 184 in the 2003-2003 edition--under Conflict Management, and replace that with the bulletin descriptions already approved for the new minor and certificate (see AS-02-19 as modified by AS-03-01; AS-02-129). Further, this proposal means we will delete all the courses listed under Conflict Management as 3003 courses on page 219 of the same edition, and not replace these listings with any other course listings, since the new minor and certificate are built on existing department courses. The new Bulletin Text follows:
