| Rationale: | |
| Block credit hours for the police academy are available to students that complete the basic police training. These credit hours show up on transcripts of University of Akron students as block credit without any grade to be able to assess mastery of the subject. This may cause acceptance problems in articulation to bachelor programs. Many students in the police academy do not become University of Akron students and cannot transfer the grades anywhere because there is no transcript or grade.
We also want the ability to measure the quality of the credit hours and assess the level of understanding attained. Therefore, graduates of the basic police academy will no longer receive block credit for technical electives. | |
