Implementation Plan
Fall 2006 we would like to begin offering the courses fully on-line. July 1, 2006 we would like to begin admitting students fully on-line. A letter of intent is being sent this fall to NCA and OBR. Full proposals for a change of delivery will be submitted in the spring once there has been University level curricular approval.
Additional program requirements:
Other information:
This will be the first fully on-line certificate program at The University of Akron.
Initially we expect to offer these courses as face-to-face and on-line. As demand increase we will offer separate sections for hybrid (web-enhanced) face-to-faced classes and full on-line classes.
Resource statement:
It is anticipated that over time as the enrollment in this program grows there will be a need for an additional faculty member.
Web components statement:
All courses will be available in fully on-line format. All courses will also continue to be offered in a hybrid format for students not choosing to go with the fully on-line format.
Rationale:
This certificate is completed by those teaching in area two-year colleges (public and for-profit) as well as other institutions and organizations of higher learning or those wishing to teach at this leave. Most current work full-time and take 6 credit a semester. Moving the program to fully online will provide to be attractive to this growing population.
