| No additional resources will be required. | |
| Web components statement: | |
| Rationale: | |
| 5190:500, Introduction to the Study of Higher Education, will be deleted from the required courses. The deletion of the 5190:500, Introduction to the Study of Higher Education course will eliminate the overlap of topics covered in that course and covered in greater depth in other required courses. Review of courses, evaluations, current Higher Education literature, and other programs illustrates that there is no longer a need for such an introductory course if the materials are covered in other courses. The total number of required credit hours, 36, will not change as 5190:626, Organization and Policy Development in Higher Education, will be added as a requirement.
The 5190: 626, Organization and Policy Development in Higher Education course will be required because of the pertinence of the information covered in that class to higher education today. Higher Education administrators must now be adequately prepared to address issues of policy and organization development and can no longer elect to acquire such knowledge if they are to be effective in the work place. This will not change the total number of required credit hours, 36, as 5190:500 Introduction to the Study of Higher Education will be deleted from course requirements. The 5190:525, Topical Seminar: Higher Education class will be moved to an elective that students may choose to take based on the particular topic and the students’ particular interests. This will not change the total number of elective credit hours as the 5190:626 Organization and Policy Development course will be moved to the required course listing. | |
