| The number of credit hours for interior design electives has been reduced from 9 to 6. Survey of History of Art I is a 4-credit course increasing total credit hours required by one.
The current Bulletin incorrectly omits 7400:147 Orientation to Professional Studies (1) however, the total credits in the major listed in the current Bulletin includes this course, thus not altering the total. The exclusion of 7400:425 Textiles for Apparel and the inclusion of 7400:422 Textiles for Interiors reflects course and program changes made for 2003.
| Resource statement: | |
| No additional resources needed. All new listed courses are currently being offered and no additional sections will be required. | |

| Rationale: | |
| The addition of one art history course fulfills a recommendation
made by FIDER (The Foundation for Interior Design Education Research) that accredits the Interior Design Program. This change also meets the expectations of the accreditation board that accredits the School of Art. The accreditation of the School of Art includes a Review of the Interior Design Program. The removal of 7400:425 and the replacement by 7400:422 follows the introduction of 7400:422 as a new course offering in 2003 tailored specifically to the needs of interior design students. This change had not been carried out in the Bulletin. The addition of 7400:147 reflects an omission in the Bulletin as this has always been a course requirement.
